CNIL orders Google to stop Gmail ads

The French data protection agency,

fined Google for violating the GDPR and the EU's ePrivacy Directive by "displaying advertisements between Gmail users' emails without their consent and for placing cookies when creating Google accounts, without valid consent of French users." On August 24, 2022, Max Schrems' NOYB organization filed a complaint. CNIL orders Google to stop Gmail ads without consent
